Role purpose:


As Cloud Infrastructure Senior Engineer for NFV (Network Functions Virtualization) we expect you to run data center lifecycle for all the European Markets, in accordance with Vodafone strategy and focused on Virtual/Containerized Network Functions (VNFs/CNFs) and SDN needs.

As a member of NVI team, technology focus (from design and best practices perspective) will be:
Virtualization and Cloud native platforms overall (IaaS and CaaS).


VMWare Telco Cloud Platform components, namely: vCloud Director, vSphere, vRealize products (vRealize Operations, Orchestrator, Log inside and network inside), NSX-T, Telco Cloud Automation (TCA) and VMWare Tanzu Kuberneters Grid (TKG).

IaaS and CaaS Hardware and software lifecycle management.

Infrastructure in general (hypervisor, computing, storage, Network - physical or virtual);
Automation and CI/CD.

Backup Solutions to support the IaaS and CaaS.


From deliverables perspective, we expect you to:

Design and Delivery infrastructure solutions based on the technologies mentioned above, considering efficiency, security, resiliency and automation, aligned with the peculiarities of NFV workloads (low latency, high throughput and resilience).

Manage the project lifecycle, coordinating suppliers engage with peers and other stakeholders during the development and implementation phase in accordance to the Delivery Management Process


Support on RFQs, definition of reference architectures, PoCs and FOAs to assure harmonization for all European markets and by ensuring new Infrastructure capabilities evolution design.


Engage with the different stakeholders (internal and external) as NVI expert, to assure NVI evolution (and adoption) aligned with Vodafone Strategy.

Run business cases to support NVI evolution.


Key accountabilities:

Design solution High Level Design (CaaS, IaaS and/or PaaS) in accordance to Vodafone needs and aligned with best practices.

Assure HW and SW Lifecycle management of the market(s) under his/her accountability.


Regularly align with stakeholders from the market(s) under his/her accountability as NVI expert and/or with other internal or external stakeholders.

Prepare mid
- and long-term financial planning activities (Network Evolution Plan and Short & Long Range Plan)

Support capacity planning and its continuous monitoring through Machine Learning techniques.


Core competencies, knowledge and experience:

Strong communication, presentation, and negotiation skills (in English)

Customer oriented and systematic way of working

Ability to work across multi-functional and cultural boundaries to deliver results and change

Strong individual thinking & judgment

Open minded attitude


Must have technical / professional qualifications:
Degree qualified

At least 5 years professional experience in cloud and virtualization telco workload

Expert in data centre infrastructure, cloud computing and virtualization architectures (Telco)


Nice to have:

Experience on engineering and architecture of NFV/SDN solutions

Best practice on orchestration and automation
