I am an experienced academician with a Ph.D. in Business Administration and a diversified background in academic administration and teaching. I have held positions such as Associate Dean of Business College and Chair of the Quality Assurance Committee at the School of Business and have been involved in research projects and capacity-building activities such as mentoring fellows and teaching students. My CV demonstrates my association with several of the region’s major academic institutions, and my extensive knowledge of business subjects and academic administration and teaching has enabled me to enhance the reputation of the institutions I have served.

Doctor of Philosophy in E-Business & Business Processes, the University of the West of England, Bristol, UK – 2010

The research combines a case study approach with the use of process modeling tools. Two ports with contrasting histories were selected for study: Alexandria, Egypt’s largest port, long-established and Government-run; and Sokhna, a modern port in the private sector. The process architecture modeling method used was Ould’s Riva, which supports the modeling of the wider process architecture of an organization as well as of the internal structure of individual processes (in role-activity diagrams). 

Based on interviews, observation, and analysis of documents, Process Architecture Diagrams (PADs) were produced for both ports, together with role-activity diagrams for selected processes. These diagrams show a model of the business processes in the two ports at the time of the investigation. The models were substantially similar for the two ports at the architectural level but divergent in internal process detail. This outcome suggests that, while organizations in the same business will have similar process architectures, they can differ substantially in process detail, probably reflecting differences in organizational history, structure, and infrastructure.

Both the port models were scrutinized to identify possibilities for process improvement, using a combination of three methods: Ould's improvement diagnosis, which is oriented towards eliminating redundant activities and fostering better decision-making; Davenport's analysis of the role of information technology in process innovation; and Earl’s six-stage model of e-business development, which focuses on the online presence of an organization.   Based on this analysis, an assessment was made of how far the two ports had progressed toward e-business operation. Comparisons were also drawn between process improvements suggested from the modeling and actual improvements being introduced or planned by the two ports. This combination of detailed process modeling, analysis, and comparison enabled recommendations to be made on process improvements for the two ports, to assist their transition to e-business. The method and results can be generalized beyond the Egyptian maritime sector.

Master of Business Administration, AASTMT, Alexandria, Egypt - 2000

Analyzing the Payment Process for students at the Arab Academy for Science and Technology was analyzed. As AASTMT is an Arab League, the university accepts students of different nationalities who are treated as ex-pats. Therefore, it was found that international students need to register and pay online before the beginning of the semester. The system developed allows students to buy prepaid cards of different financial classes from the contracted bank and use them to pay on the university's website. Security issues of this technique were examined to ensure the safety of money transfers.
