عن lizette neng Sala:
Lizette Neng Sala is a 34-year-old Cameroonian scholar, emerging leader and passionate advocate for inclusive education. She is currently completing her PhD in Inclusive Education at the University of Bamenda, where her academic and community-driven work focuses on improving learning outcomes and social inclusion for children with disabilities.
Born and raised in Belo Sub-Division in Cameroon’s North West Region, a community where children with disabilities and autism are often neglected and left without basic coping or educational opportunities they deserved. These realities shaped her lifelong commitment to ensuring that no child is left behind. Lizette developed a profound commitment to addressing these gaps as her personal experiences observing the barriers faced by children with disabilities fuelled her determination to champion education that leaves no one behind.
Over the years, Lizette has worked with the Mbingo Baptist Centre for Disability and several schools across Bamenda, where she has supported and trained children with disabilities, autism blindness and other special needs. Through hands-on engagement, she has gained deep insight into both the extraordinary resilience of these children and the substantial daily challenges they face. These experiences have reinforced her belief that inclusive education is not only a fundamental human right but also a powerful driver of sustainable development, social justice, and community transformation.
To better serve visually impaired learners, Lizette pursued specialized training in Braille, took care of autistic learners, worked in the resource room where there were had many types disabilities and others. These skills have allowed her to communicate directly and meaningfully with visually impaired and special needs children—understanding their needs, strengthening trust, and bringing hope and joy into their learning experience. The smiles she helps to create remain her greatest motivation.
In addition to her community work, Lizette has over seven years of experience lecturing inclusive Education, Educational Psychology, Pedagogy Educational Foundations in Teachers’ Training Colleges in Cameroon. Through this role, she has contributed to shaping future educators with the skills and mindset needed to champion inclusive education in their classrooms and communities.
Lizette’s long-term vision extends far beyond the lecture hall. She aspires to establish a community-based Disability and Inclusion Centre in Belo Sub Division in Cameroon — an accessible, safe, and empowering space where children with disabilities can learn, grow, and acquire skills for independent and fulfilling lives. The centre will also serve as a hub for training teachers and parents, raising awareness about disability rights, and promoting community inclusion.
