    Mission


    Job Purpose:

    The Head of Asset Management plays a key role in the operational leadership of the Asset Management team. The Head is responsible for supervising the asset management engineers, ensuring the integrity and optimization of the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), primarily IBM Maximo, and driving initiatives that improve asset reliability, performance, and lifecycle management.

    This role supports the execution of strategic plans set by the Director and Manager of Asset Management, ensuring tactical excellence, data quality, and operational compliance across asset management activities.

    Profile


    Responsibilities/Duties

    Asset Management:

    • Lead daily operations related to asset lifecycle management (acquisition, maintenance, renewal, disposal), ensuring alignment with company standards and best practices.
    • Supervise the work of Asset Management Engineers and Junior Engineers, providing technical guidance, task prioritization, and quality control.
    • Ensure asset hierarchies, standards, and data governance protocols are properly implemented and maintained.
    • Support the Asset Management Manager in developing and executing asset plans, budgets, and improvement initiatives.
    • Analyze operational data and prepare reports and recommendations for the Manager and Director regarding asset performance, risks, and improvement opportunities.
    • Facilitate collaboration across departments (Maintenance, Operations, Engineering, and Finance) to support integrated asset management practices.

    Risk, Compliance, and Reporting:

    • Ensure adherence to internal procedures, regulatory requirements, and industry standards related to asset management.
    • Assist in implementing risk-based maintenance strategies and reliability-centered maintenance practices (RCM, TPM, FMEA, etc.).
    • Develop and maintain documentation for asset management processes, asset strategies, and technical reports.
    • Track and report on asset-related KPIs, downtime metrics, and maintenance costs, highlighting trends and risks to senior leadership.

    Managing Team:

    • Manage the day-to-day activities of the asset management team, including scheduling, coaching, and performance monitoring.
    • Mentor Junior Engineers and Engineers, supporting their technical and professional development.
    • Coordinate technical training needs and ensure team members are proficient in using CMMS systems and asset management tools.

    Maximo

    • Oversee daily administration and operational excellence of IBM Maximo, ensuring data accuracy, system availability, and effective use across departments.
    • Ensure all asset records, maintenance plans, and work orders are correctly configured, maintained, and audited within Maximo.
    • Lead Maximo improvement initiatives, including configuration updates, new functionality testing, and integration with other systems (e.g., finance, operations).
    • Enforce data governance standards, ensuring asset codes, descriptions, and hierarchies are standardized and consistent.
    • Provide guidance and training to asset and maintenance staff to optimize their use of Maximo and ensure system compliance.
    • Analyze Maximo data to generate insights for improving maintenance strategies, asset reliability, and operational efficiency.
    • Coordinate with IT and Maximo vendors on system upgrades, troubleshooting, and enhancement opportunities.

    Essential Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Asset Management, or a related technical field.
    • Professional certification in Asset Management (e.g., IAM, CMRP) is preferred.
    • IBM Maximo Administration certification or equivalent CMMS experience is an advantage.

    Knowledge:

    • Strong technical knowledge of asset management principles, asset lifecycle planning, and maintenance strategies.
    • Expertise in IBM Maximo or equivalent CMMS platforms, including administration, reporting, and configuration.
    • Understanding of risk management principles, reliability-centered maintenance, and continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma).
    • Familiarity with ISO 55000 Asset Management standards is preferred.
    • Proficient in data analysis and reporting tools, especially Microsoft Excel and related platforms.

    Experience:

    • 7-10 years of progressive experience in asset management, maintenance engineering, or related technical fields.
    • Demonstrated leadership experience managing small to mid-sized technical teams.
    • Proven track record in improving CMMS usage, data quality, and asset management processes.
    • Hands-on experience leading Maximo system improvements, upgrades, and user support activities.
