HR & Business continuity Director: AFRO Egypt (communications & technology services provide Head count 1400+)

May 2017- Present

The main mandate was to transform Afro from a small telecom subcontractor to one of the leading companies in Egypt and Africa. During this period AFRO enjoyed growth in head count from 300+ to more than 1400 and revenue growth form 70 M to 300 M. During this period HR building blocks were built, policy and procedures were developed. We also managed to have a smooth merger process with a sister company Called 9Contractors.

Other achievements:

  • Developing performance management system that cascade company objectives to all company’s functions and link payment with individual and company performance.
  • Great success in leading business continuity activities and emergency plans during Corona pandemic in 2021.
  • Introducing and starting Afro learn (AFRO Academy) that helped a lot in providing trained human resources to afro and to telecom market.
  • Leading 2 Major company restructure
  • Leading HIPO Program for high potential middle management who are currently company management.

 

HR Director: ALKAN CIT Group (communications & technology services provide Head count 2500+)

March 2011 – Jan 2016

The scope was to Lead HR activities for all group affiliated companies namely Alkan Networks, Alkan Telecom and ESRI NeA, who provide state of the art technologies and turnkey solutions to its clients across the whole MEA. The main mandate during this period is to sustain operation, smoothly getting rid of company fats while avoiding any labour strikes during political unstable period in Egypt.

During this period, I manged to smoothly manage 2 major company restructure and resources downsizing.   

 

HR Manager: Ministry of state for administrative development (Head count 350)

 

July 2009-Feb 2011

I had been assigned to establish full HR functions in the ministry of state for administrative development and to imitate what I achieved in IDSC through to initiating and operating state of the art HR function with special emphasis on cultural change and organizational development issues such as performance management building grading system. 

The ministry is mandated to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the state’s administrative body in order to achieve better service delivery to citizens. The Ministry works on achieving its goals by engaging in four main programs: the Institutional Development Program, the Enterprise Resource Management Program, Linking National Database Program and Institutional Development Program.

 

HR Manager: IDSC (The Egyptian Cabinet Information and Decision Support Centre),( Head count 480)

July 2002- June 2009

I was also assigned to establish HR functions for the first time in IDSC (The Egyptian Cabinet Information and Decision Support Centre). The main objective was to initiate and operate state of the art HR function with special emphasis on cultural change and organizational development issues such as performance management building grading system (parallel to governmental systems). 

Other Achievements: -

  • proven performance in managing joint foreign projects since I was responsible for managing "IDSC-INWENT Capacity Building Program in collaboration with the German capacity building international organization "INWENT" (2007-May2009). This program was built to enhance the performance of governmental employees in Egypt and is planned to include the MENA region. I also acted as the IDSC's focal point with the delegation of the European commission in Cairo in the "Support of Institutional Strengthening project", during 2007. 
  • Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Arab Management for standing as the best Arab governmental organization in 2002. I was honored by being one of the IDSC representatives –as HR manager- in front of the referral committee and answering all their questions regarding HR activities.  
  • Building Dual ladder career path system that enable those with high technical skills to be promoted   

 

Project manager: IDSC (The Egyptian Cabinet Information and Decision Support Centre

Jul 1996-june 2002

Responsible for applying information technology to document the Egyptian national museums' antiquities. Also, I had been the Egyptian focal point for a European Union project for cultural heritage documentation (Database) in the Mediterranean countries

Achievements: -

  • Leading the S/W Development of multimedia programs for Dar El Kotob manuscripts
  • Leading the S/W Development of WEB sites for Egyptian Museum, Islamic Museum, Mahmoud Khalil Museum
  • Documenting Egyptian Museum& Islamic Museum
